Yurt Trip

My honey turned 26! It was an especially good birthday this year. To celebrate, we went on a yurt trip with Jake & Melissa Garrett. If you are like me, you probably have no idea what a yurt is. It's basically
like a canvas igloo. The one we reserved a night in was in the middle of nowhere and we had to ski in.

We started off by driving to Pocatello, Idaho. We got all strapped up to our Alpine touring skis and got
 our packs on right at about dusk and started on our way.

The trail was AMAZING! It snowed the entire hike in. The woods around were so wildly beautiful
and quiet. And there were fresh animal tracks all around us the entire way. We had to use a GPS to find the yurt.

Let me tell you what a welcome site the Yurt was---all nestled in the middle of the forest, blanketed
in snow--after 6 hours of uphill hiking.

The men got a fire started while Melissa and I got the beds ready. We even melted snow to cook dinner
with! The yurt was so warm all night.

After we had eaten and packed up in the morning, we got our skis and packs on again and skied out!
Even though it was super challenging and a little scary at times, it is by far the funnest trip
we have done in a long time. We just can't wait to go back again!

We returned to Lance's parent's house to pick Crew up only to find a surprise birthday party
for Lance. I didn't get a picture of the group but thanks to all those who came!

I love him so very much.

We celebrated again with my family on Sunday.

HAPPY 26TH BABY!

{Snow Shoeing}

This last weekend, Lance and I and 3 other couples headed up to Joe's cabin for a little snowshoeing and campout adventure. We had such a blast! It was about a half a mile hike in, then we roasted hot dogs, played games, and laughed ourselves silly (as we always do).

It was so beautiful up there with all the snow!

Just before heading to the cabin.

The happy couple: Bryan & Erin. LOVE these two :)

Camille & Joe; the gracious hosts.

Andrew and Sutton; she was a little sleepy when we were playing "Bang".

Roasting hot dogs

Aw! I love my baby.

The only heat in the entire cabin was one wood burning stove. It stayed surprisingly warm but poor Sutton was FREEZING cold. Hence the layers and layers of blankets :) We pulled all the mattresses into the main room and all slept side-by-side with our heads to the fire. So nice and cozy... although, no one got much sleep. Definitely worth it though :)

My prego belly at 25 weeks. You can see I'm gaining back weight; today, I officially broke my weight barrier. Kind of odd to weigh 90 pounds last month and now weigh more than I ever have in my entire life! An almost 20 pound swing. I am so thankful to be feeling well and giving this baby (and my body) the things it needs. I have never been so happy about gaining weight :)

Saturday night we went to the BYU Lacrosse game with Andrew & Sutton which was also a blast.
What a fun weekend! Time for another adventure!

{rain}

Even though I have photos to edit and post from our Arizona and San Diego trips, I wanted to post really quickly about mine and Lance's fun adventure the other day.

We have been taking the scooter everywhere lately (love it!) and that includes to and from school. Well the other day we were almost to the scooter to head home when we felt a couple rain drops. We better hurry! We thought. So we hopped on and off we went. We didn't get very far before a TORRENT of rain started coming down. We pulled over at first and got shelter under a tree but decided home was only 10 minutes away so we went for it. Oh my goodness! If any of you were outside or in your car when that happened, you know what I am talking about. But I have never been outside in that kind of rain, not to mention on a scooter. Needless to say, we were hysterically laughing almost the entire way home. Not only because we were COMPLETELY soaked from head to toe and probably looked ridiculous, but because the rain drops hurt! I must have said 10 times. "Babe! These are definitely hail stones now!" They were not hail stones, of course, it just felt like it....until the last turn of our trip home and then, they were definitely hail stones!!

The best part of the story is the rain completely stopped and the sun came out less than 5 minutes after we got home. It's almost like God knew we needed a good laugh :)
